What is the PAA?

The Audiovisual Archives Pole (PAA) was created in 2008 to buildan audiovisual memory of the history and culture of Burkina Faso for researchers, students and professors, youth and resources center of the country and the rest of Africa.

Its main goals are:

–       A center for consulting audiovisual archives on Burkina Faso history and culture, based on the Buud          Yam database.

–       An expert service providing national and regional centers in charge of audiovisual archives with the          expertise of qualified employees (IT Engineers, Documentalist) able to offer a technical and logistical          assistance or personalized advice within reasonable delays.

–       A training and information platform which will supply a new teaching catalog about audiovisual archives          and creation from an archive database.

Archive communication activities must allow a greater visibility for the pole of a large public. This aspect is of the greatest importance for the achievement of the set goals. The opening of the PAA in February 2011 led the working team to developing a pedagogical programme called “Memory Camp” for schools and academia in Burkina Faso.
