Why an Archive Center?

As fiction rooted in reality, history is of capital importance for accessing memory and knowledge.  As the country of African cinema, Burkina Faso endowed with a particularly rich audiovisual heritage. Unfortunately, the Burkinabè agencies in charge of audiovisuals archives do not have the necessary means to increase its value. Yet, day after day, invaluable documents are deteriorating and running the risk of disappearing all together.

It’s out of this concern that IMAGINE Institute, as inspired by the Bophana Audiovisual Ressources Center which was founded by the Cambodgian director Rithy Panh, provides support to Burkinabè archive centers to help preserve, develop and enhance the communication of audiovisual archives.
